Meta challenged us to build a year-round global employee engagement strategy that could be rolled out locally by site teams. The goal? Boost Metamate connection across Meta offices worldwide by providing a shared and cohesive calendar of experiences, creative content, and plug-and-play toolkits for sites. These quarterly activations needed to reflect Meta’s culture of curiosity, connection, competitive edge, and creativity, while being easy to deliver locally by each site no matter how small or large. Each toolkit also had to include step-by-step execution guides to ensure smooth implementation across a wide variety of teams, spaces, and budgets.

Over the course of the year, 70 Meta offices across the globe participated in the programme, with thousands of Metamates engaging with the events on-site. The World Fair was just one of the flagship moments, offering inclusive, localised celebrations that sparked real joy and connection among staff. Activities like the Rubik’s Cube challenge and social-good mini-games reinforced the vibrancy of Meta’s culture. Global feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with employees noting that the events helped break down barriers, build friendships, and made the office “somewhere you want to be.” With Metamate Meetups now embedded in Meta’s internal engagement strategy, the toolkit has proven its value as a useful & scalable resource.
