At FUEL, we are committed to creating exceptional and impactful events while minimising our environmental footprint and maximising positive social and economic contributions. We recognise the importance of sustainability and are dedicated to integrating environmentally and socially responsible practices into all aspects of our operations and event management. We proactively seek and champion innovative sustainable solutions, materials, and practices within the events industry.

OUR COMMITMENT

  • Environmental Stewardship: Protecting the environment through responsible resource management, waste reduction, energy efficiency, and the minimisation of our carbon footprint.
  • Social Responsibility: Contributing positively to the communities where we operate, fostering diversity and inclusion, and ensuring our events are ethical, accessible, and respectful.
  • Economic Viability: Supporting local economies and promoting sustainable practices that offer long-term value to our clients and stakeholders
  • Continuous Improvement: Regularly reviewing and improving our sustainability performance against measurable objectives and targets, striving to exceed industry best practices.
  • Transparency: Communicating our sustainability efforts and progress to our clients, team, suppliers, and the wider community.

OUR KEY SUSTAINABILITY PRINCIPLES

1. Waste Management

  • We aim to minimise waste generation by prioritising reduction, reuse, and recycling (following the waste hierarchy) in all our activities.
  • We will strive to eliminate problematic single-use plastics and opt for reusable, recyclable, or certified compostable alternatives.
  • We will implement effective waste segregation and recycling programs for events and within our office.
  • We will explore opportunities for food waste reduction through careful planning, composting partnerships, and donation of safe, surplus food where feasible.

2. Energy Efficiency & Carbon Reduction

  • We are committed to reducing energy consumption in our office and at events, and measuring our usage to identify further savings.
  • We will prioritise venues and suppliers that utilise renewable energy sources and implement energy-efficient technologies.
  • We will encourage energy-saving practices among our team and event attendees.
  • We commit to measuring and actively reducing our green house gas emissions (see Measurement & Reporting).

3. Sustainable Sourcing

  • We will prioritise the use of locally sourced, sustainable, and ethically produced goods and services whenever possible.
  • We will actively prioritise suppliers who demonstrate strong environmental and social practices.
  • We will favour materials made from recycled content or sustainably managed resources.
  • Prioritise rentals and reusable items over purchased materials.

4. Sustainable Transportation

  • We will promote sustainable transportation options, including public transport, shared mobility, cycling, and walking.
  • We will consider the location of venues to minimise travel distances and associated emissions.
  • We will optimise logistics and transportation for event materials and equipment to reduce our carbon footprint, which we will track as part of our overall emissions measurement.

5. Water Conservation

  • We will strive to conserve water in our office and encourage water-efficient practices at events.
  • We will opt for venues with water-saving fixtures and practices where available.

6. Community Engagement & Social Impact

  • We are committed to engaging with and supporting the local communities where our events take place.
  • We will seek opportunities to collaborate with local businesses, social enterprises, and community organisations.
  • We aim to create events that are inclusive and accessible to all participants.
  • We strive to foster diversity and inclusion both within our team and through our event casting, staffing, and supplier choices.

7. Digitalisation

  • We will adopt a digital-first approach to reduce paper consumption in our communications, planning, marketing, and event materials.

8. Measurement and Reporting

  • We will establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure our sustainability progress.
  • We commit to tracking our operational and event-related carbon footprint as members of ISLA.
  • We will conduct an annual internal review of our sustainability performance against our KPIs and targets.

We are committed to setting ambitious and measurable targets. Our key goals include:
