Christmas at the Guinness Storehouse 2023

Christmas at the Guinness Storehouse 2023
the task
The Guinness Storehouse wanted Christmas to feel bigger, bolder, and more unforgettable than ever before. The challenge was to create a bespoke festive experience that elevated their existing offer while driving an increase in their NPS (Net Promoter Score) and footfall compared to previous years. This wasn’t just about decorating, it was about transforming one of Ireland’s most iconic visitor destinations into a seasonal spectacle that left guests talking, sharing, and coming back. FUEL was tasked with creating an immersive, multi-floor experience that would surprise and delight visitors at every turn, rooted in a unifying creative vision: Lights of Home. It needed to deliver a sense of warmth, wonder, and Guinness heritage, all while integrating cutting-edge technology, world-class artistry, and seamless execution.

the experience
Seven floors, countless touchpoints, and one cohesive creative vision. FUEL designed and developed Christmas at the Guinness Storehouse under the theme Lights of Home, weaving together installations, interactive moments, and striking artistic collaborations. The centrepiece - a 7-metre wooden tree box wrapped in gleaming gold vinyl - housed 27 individually dressed Christmas trees and a light-filled tunnel of 1,759 bulbs, symbolising the year Arthur Guinness signed his legendary lease. Every five minutes, a synchronised light show played alongside an exclusive audio score by Jason Boland of Kodaline, creating a moment of collective awe. Across the atrium, 25 giant baubles and disco balls swayed in harmony with roving lights, while the iconic Guinness Gates became a snow-dusted photo opportunity complete with sculpted snow, suspended clouds, and projected snowfall. Collaborations with digital artist Farouk Alao brought Guinness history to life through LiDAR technology, and Sorcha O’Higgins’ bold hand-cut collage celebrated both the brand’s archives and its Liberties roots. From the Market Street lights to the final garland on the seventh floor, every detail was designed to wrap the Guinness Storehouse in an unmistakable festive glow.
the outcome
The result was a Christmas experience that set a new standard for the Guinness Storehouse. Net Promoter Scores not only hit but tracked above target throughout the season, showing clear uplift in visitor satisfaction. Attendance numbers surpassed the previous year, with guests spending more time on-site and engaging with the installations at every level. Social media lit up with visitor-generated content, turning the Lights of Home into a shareable symbol of Dublin’s festive season. The experience didn’t just delight visitors, it reinforced Guinness Storehouse’s reputation as a must-visit destination, driving both domestic and international appeal during a competitive tourism period. The seamless blend of Guinness heritage, cutting-edge technology, and immersive storytelling gave guests a reason to come, stay, and share their experience far beyond the brewery walls. For FUEL, this project showcased our ability to combine large-scale creative vision with meticulous execution, delivering results that were measurable, memorable, and left the magic of Christmas in the eyes of every visitor.
